HDB Mobile – data on your handphone

HDB has recently launched a mobile version of the HDB website, allowing users to check information on the move. This provides a convenient solution to users who need information on the move but do not carry a laptop / iphone =)

Some of the latest applications on Mobile@HDB include the following:

  • Buying a New Flat. Home buyers can now check for the results of their sales application, the flats that are available for selection, and also check on the probable completion dates of their new flats.
  • Buying a Resale Flat. Home buyers can now check on resale transaction prices on the go. This will be a useful feature especially when they are out viewing resale flats at various locations. They could also check on the ethnic quota, work out a financial plan, and the distance between HDB blocks to qualify for CPF housing grants for living close to parents/children.
  • Others. The public can also use our Where2Shop application to find out where to shop and eat in the heartland. They could also check on the status of HDB’s upgrading programmes, and follow us with our latest news and events.

From URA’s flash estimates, private residential property prices rose 5.2%, a little slower than than the previous 5.6%.

Illegal HDB whole flats sublet rentals – HDB to repossess 3 flats

In first 3 months of 2010, 3 HDB flat owners have had their flats repossessed by HDB due to unauthorised subletting. They rented out “whole” flats without fulfiling Minimum Occupation Period.

To sublet the whole flat, prior approval from HDB is needed. For subletting of bedrooms, no approval from HDB is required. However, with effect 1 Feb 2010, flat owners must register the subletting with HDB within 7 days of doing so. They must also continue to live in the flat during the period of subletting and comply with other subletting conditions.

To sublet the entire flat, you need to satisfy the condition of a 3-year or 5-year Minimum Occupation Period (MOP).

You are allowed to sublet your whole flat if you have occupied your:

  • Non-subsidised flat (flat purchased from the open market without a CPF housing grant) for at least 3 years, or
  • Subsidised flat (flat purchased directly from HDB or from the open market with a CPF housing grant) for at least 5 years

Special circumstances where owners are allowed to rent out whole HDB flat

A routine inspection in Bukit Batok uncovered more than 20 people staying in the maisonette. 17 of them are maids.

The ruling on maximum number of occupants are

  • Not more than 9 occupants in 4-room model and larger flats
  • Not more than 6 occupants in 3-room model flats
  • Not more than 4 occupants for 1 and 2-room model flats
